Windows Live is back

The Microsoft’s services including Hotmail, Sky Drive, Windows Live and Office 365 are now restored. The services were down for a few early morning hours of today. So far the reasons for the outages are unknown and it is believed that creating new DNS and its configuration changes around the world had caused the disruptions.

The service disruption started on Friday 09 Sep 2011 at about 03:00 GMT. Microsoft had announced that services are restarted and restored at 0530 GMT. But it may take some time for the service to be restored in full around the world. The company had said on its Windows Live blog that the services had been restored for most of the customers.


Microsoft accepted the outage as Chris Jones, a Microsoft executive said on the official blog.With more than 360 million users Hotmail is the world’s most-used online email system and SkyDrive service is using mainly by small businesses which stores data and delivers it over the Web. Office 365 is a service of Microsoft Office programs in the online for professionals and small businesses. The disruptions of these services had caused lot of inconveniences to the Microsoft users around the world.

Microsoft had announced that the changes put in place by the firm had resolved the issue and restored services.
