UAE awarded with silver medal at Expo 2012

The Expo 2012 at Yeosu Korea has awarded UAE Pavilion with a Silver Medal for its creative pavilion display. The Expo 2012 is a venue with over 100 participating countries and is divided into A, B and C classes based on their level of participation. The UAE pavilion was assessed in the A class along with ten other major nations of the world.

The UAE pavilion's film focused on the theme of 'Living Ocean and Coast' was selected by the judges for its high quality and high impact on audiences.
The main film showing in the pavilion was "The Turtle", has drawn effective praise from critics and visitors alike. The judging panel of BIE Medal Awards made a special mention of the film in their comments at the award ceremony, prior to the closing of the three-month exhibition.

The BIE Medal Awards are hotly contested by the participating countries at the Expo. The UAE's achievement in beating all other members of the top class (with the exception of China) was widely recognized. The bronze medal for creative display was awarded to Australia and other competing nations included the US, Japan, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Denmark.

Expo movement is the exhibition of creative art, technology and products of different nations and is led by BIE. UAE look forward to participating at Expo 2015 in Milan and at Expo 2017. UAE is also expected to become the venue for 2020 exhibition and has put bid to host Expo 2020 in Dubai.
Ibrahim Al Abed was the UAE Pavilion Commissioner and the Silver Medal was received by Abdulla Al Aidarous (Pavilion Director and Deputy Commissioner) on behalf of the UAE Government.
