Prometheus Rocks movie had brilliant special effects, a solid storyline, just enough horror to give it a nice edge – I especially like the robotic abortion scene – and a finale that shows up everything that it is so good about our human species.
Just been to see the new Ridley Scott in this Prometheus Rocks Mega movie – prequel to the Alien series – and I was very impressed. Not as moody or atmospheric as the original Alien film, this one had all the right ingredients, from the unspoken and nameless horror to the scheming financial backer and his chillingly efficient android, played to perfection by Michael Fassbinder.
There was enough left unanswered in this stunning movie to merit a second, though I suspect that might take some writing up by a sci-fi author with a vast imagination, because the implications of a sequel aimed at finally solving the big question are too marvellous to contemplate, yet also somehow terrifying. The ending answered one question left over from that first alien movie about the Alien crew member corpse with the hole in it, but left several others.
If indeed humanity was a bio-engineering experiment, then those doing the experiments have to be creatures on an intellectual level we can only dream of, yet our curiosity would render us unafraid to question them, even if we could ever find them, but the way Scott ends Prometheus, you get the feeling that this encounter might well be planned for another episode of the Dr Shaw saga, a female, 21st/22nd century female Indiana Jones.
